9.4 SYSTEM-LEVEL ANALYSIS OF COUPLED THERMAL AND WATER MANAGEMENT
The open system of a PEM fuel cell is drawn in Figure 9-34, showing the inputs and outputs of interest. The analysis is established based on the balance of mass and energy. Anode reformate (hydrogen gas, water, and CO2), air, and cooling water are independent streams and not mixed. The following assumptions are made for the analysis:
