Taxes are a low-maintenance item in PeopleSoft. Rates and rules are delivered and updated regularly by PeopleSoft. Codes to identify local jurisdictions and states are also provided. Based on the rules you set up on the data tables for each employee, PeopleSoft payroll will calculate the appropriate taxes, deduct them from the paycheck, and store them on the PS_PAY_TAX table.
There are several tables for storing tax rules and settings. Table 18-1 describes each table. Note the two types of set-up tables: control tables, which contain the rules for a given taxing authority (federal, state or local), and data tables, which contain employee tax specifications.
