confusion; although Coldwater and South Bend are adjacent in place as
well as in this cluster, they are clustered next with Bowling Green, a voice
which should have been clustered with the southern voices. Such results
as these suggest again that regions themselves (the south in the US in
particular) have considerable folk salience but that only certain features
(not controlled for in this experiment) may trigger associations between
