Computing itself can become a personal threat when it is misused. Some threats cannot be mitigated by following secure computing practices. This chapter discusses threats to our security that do not involve security breaches. These threats arise when computers are used to harm individuals and society. Computing is not unique in carrying both good and bad consequences, but the bad side of computing is now prominent and undeniable.
