Introduction

Although primarily viewed as a writer on business organizations, Drucker wrote extensively on the management of governmental institutions and their place in society. As he developed his larger theory of a functioning society of healthy, well-managed institutions, Drucker saw the pluralist nature of such a society consisting of a wide variety of institutions with different purposes.
