1.1 INTRODUCTION
How to extract the desired object information, with the highest possible
precision and speed, from a temporally or spatially modulated quasi-peri-
odic fringe signal has been a critical issue common to all kinds of sens-
ing and metrology. Various techniques of fringe generation and analysis
have been developed [1–4] to meet dierent requirements in diverse appli-
