5.1 INTRODUCTION
In digital image processing and digital interferometry, one nds two
broad classes of problems: direct problems and inverse problems. A
direct problem is one that, acting on an input signal I(x,y), produces an
output signal f(x,y) by means of a well-dened operation. In other words,
a direct problem transforms the input continuously and in a unique way.
