Because the methods mentioned in Table7.1 are sensitive to the nonlinear
response of the PZT, a nonlinML method appeared to be a suitable can-
didate for the estimation of the phase information. In addition, under the
hypothesis that the response of the PZT is monotonically nonlinear, the
measurement of phase can be performed without the need of any calibra-
tion of the device. Although in this chapter we did not discuss statisti-
