Unfortunately, sometimes bad things happen to good people and that includes losing your data. It isn’t a matter of if but simply when you will lose data. The circumstances might be out of your control, or you may unintentionally have a hand in it. Regardless of the reason, you must accept that it will happen, so it pays to know what to do when it does.

When you do lose your files, the best-case scenario is that you will be able to recover them quickly from a backup. But sometimes even a backup can fail you, and you’ll need to try to recover your data through other means.
