Tom Stoddart
Tom Stoddart, who is represented by and works closely with Getty
Images, has been making remarkable humanistic photographs and
winning awards for 40 years. During his long career, which began in a
local newspaper in the Northeast of England when he was 17, he has been
seriously injured (by an explosion in Bosnia) and witnessed many of the
important events of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. He was on
the ground in Lebanon, in Sarajevo, and in Iraq when Saddam Hussein
was deposed. He saw the Berlin Wall fall, Nelson Mandela elected, and
