Stock or purge?

Q: WHAT’S YOUR TAKE ON IMAGE ARCHIVES? I’VE GOT TONS OF PHOTOS FROM VACATIONS, PERSONAL PROJECTS, PHOTO WALKS, AND WORKSHOPS THAT ARE JUST HANGING OUT ON HARD DRIVES. SHOULD I POST THESE FOR SALE AS STOCK, HANG ON TO THEM “JUST IN CASE,” OR JUST PURGE?

A: I don’t know. I have these kinds of images, too. I have no clue what to do with them. Getting into stock is quite a job. You might think it’s a fine stock photo but it’s amazing how finicky stock companies can be on images that are submitted. There will be things in your photos that you thought weren’t an issue, and suddenly you’re doing a lot of retouching to remove this or that. Then you have to learn the art of keywording.
