Q: SO YOU ARE KIDNAPPED, DUMPED IN A CITY WHEREBY YOU KNOW ABSOLUTELY NOBODY. YOU ARE GIVEN A CAMERA AND LENS SETUP AND A FEW MISCELLANEOUS BITS AND BOBS. ABSOLUTELY NO WAY OF USING EXISTING CONTACTS OR FRIENDS. WHAT’S YOUR FIRST MOVE? AND THEN WHAT NEXT?
A: First move is to find some sort of industry I want to work in. Music. Family portraits. Corporate. Etc. I’ll then offer 10 bands/families/companies my services for free in the next 30 days to build a new portfolio and make my first round of new connections in this town. Note that I’d be very targeted in my offer for free work. Not just any band or family or company. I’d want 10 “connected” people/companies that will connect me to their network of people. ...
