Photographic Chrome Reflections

It was the new logo for BVD briefs that got me interested in figuring out how to do this effect. In the past, to get a photographic chrome-like look, you'd have to use displacement maps and jump through a lot of hoops, but when I gave that BVD logo a good look I started to wonder if there wasn't an easier way.
