Quick Tip: Moving shapes as you draw

While you're using one of Photoshop's Shape tools, you can reposition the shape as you're dragging it out by holding down the Spacebar.

This is a nice way to showcase an elegant product, such as jewelry, watches, etc.; and it really gives that “shot-in-the-studio” look because it appears as though the red area is created by a soft flood light. Best of all, this is one of those “create it from scratch in 60 seconds” type of effects that appear to have taken hours.

Step ONE.
Open a new document in the size you'd like for your background (the one shown here is a 5"x7" document in RGB mode). Press “d” to set your Foreground color to black, then press Option-Delete (PC: Alt-Backspace) ...
