FILTERS

Filters are one of Photoshop’s most popular features: specialized add-ons that boost performance. Some people collect them, entire books are written on them, and the variety available is overwhelming. They are also completely overused and underutilized.

How can that be? A look becomes popular, and everyone wants to use it. Because people don’t fully understand Photoshop, they rush out and buy add-on after add-on. Don’t get me wrong—I’m always happy to try out new filters, and I’m amazed at what wonderfully creative software designers come up with. However, you can do a lot with a little, and a better understanding of how to use filters will help you maximize your investment of time and dollars.
