I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
2.6. Summary
This chapter described the Photoshop workspace, preferences, presets, and tools. Following are key concepts:
The Photoshop workspace consists of the Menu Bar, Tools panel, Options Bar, panels, Image Window, and, new to CS4, the Application Frame.
The Application Frame acts as a container for the entire Photoshop workspace and functions in a similar way as an Image Window.
Photoshop Preferences can be set to improve performance and change the appearance and some functions of the workspace.
You can design custom workspaces, keyboard shortcuts, and menus that are optimized for certain workflows and save and load the custom workspaces.
There are libraries of presets that come with Photoshop, including custom brushes, swatches, styles, and shapes that can be accessed and used from various menus and panels. The Preset Manager can be used to organize sets of presets. You can also make your own custom presets.
Use tools to work directly on images and perform tasks such as making selections, moving image pixels, creating shapes, and zooming in and out of an image.
