Content Delivery Networks

A content delivery network is a network of servers with a number of different geographic locations. When a user visits a website that uses a CDN, static files such as user downloads, images, stylesheets, and JavaScript libraries are downloaded from the visitor's closest server on the Content Delivery Network. This reduces the number of connections to our primary web server, and increases the speed at which the site loads for the user (while, in most cases, it won't speed up the PHP processing or the HTML transfer, the images, and other supporting files, are usually larger and take longer to download).
