Time for action — staging files to a Git repository

In this tutorial, we will learn how to stage files to our local Git repository. Staging is the state to add the changes to be committed. The following files can be called staged files:

  • A newly created file added to the repository
  • An existing file modified and added to the repository

First, we will add a newly created file to the repo, and then we will add a modified file to repo:

  1. First of all, we will open the Show Changes viewer window of NetBeans Git. Right-click on the chapter6demo project node, and select Git | Show Changes. NetBeans will scan the repository and show any changes in the window. Now, any changes into the repository can be viewable in real time from this window.
