Congress has passed numerous pieces of federal legislation specifically designed to eradicate discrimination on the basis of a variety of factors. Though there are a host of factors covered, they all share one thing in common—none of them has any impact on a person's ability to do the job. Each piece of legislation, therefore, has brought the workplace one step closer to ensuring that hiring, promotional, and all other employment-related decisions are based solely on job-related factors.
