A law that guaranteed laborers the right to organize and bargain collectively (Title I). The Act also established that employees could not be required, as a condition of employment, to join or refrain from joining a labor organization. In May of 1935, the National Industrial Recovery Act was held unconstitutional by the U.S. Supreme Court (Schechter Poultry Corp. v. United States).
