10. Power Control from DC Motor to AC Appliances
This chapter emphasizes on DC power control. It provides an overview of bipolar junction transistor (BJT) and its type: NPN transistor and PNP transistor. N-type semiconductor and P-type semiconductor are also mentioned. Illustration is provided for H-bridge configuration. Pulse width modulation (PWM) method is employed to control motor's speed. Time period and frequency is stated to be an important aspect of the PWM. Visual aspect of speed control of DC motor is indicated. Technology to control main power supply for household electrical appliances is also mentioned.
