Configuring Piwik's tracking cookies

It is impossible for a page tag-based web analytics solution to be useful without cookies. Cookies are key-value pairs stored in text format by your browser. They are set by a web server so that you can be identified across pages or time. Session cookies only last for the duration of your visit to a website, and persistent cookies are stored for a longer period of time—set by the Max-Age value. Piwik must use both session and persistent cookies to accurately track visitors.
