It all starts with the concept of microservices, small sections of code which are meant to perform one simple task and nothing else. The evangelists behind this movement will claim that this means that each microservice, being a small block of code to perform a single function, will necessarily be more robust than a larger block of code which performs several related functions or, indeed, a complete application.
