Way Forward to Improve Irrigation Efficiency

Abstract

Globally 70%–75% of fresh water is being used in the irrigation sector and therefore requires more attention for its management. Also, due to low irrigation efficiency, the irrigation potential created in the world is not being fully used and creates further irrigation demands in the existing system for agricultural production. Increasing population and climatic changes have further increased irrigation demands and thereby the water stress in the world.
