If your computer is equipped with an Infrared port, then you will have this last applet in your Control Panel. Most desktop systems do not have an IR port, and about roughly half of all portable computers currently have an IR port. Infrared ports are used by devices like digital cameras and Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), such as a Palm or Handspring.

The Infrared tab (see Figure 28.40) allows you to configure some basic IR port items such as indicating when IR devices are active or playing a sound when an IR device is near. Additionally, you have control over how files are transferred and where incoming files are placed on your computer.
