Preface
In preparing this seventh edition of Play Directing, the intention has been to develop more fully the exploration of the director-designer relationship in order to provide a firm foun- dation in this critically important aspect of directing. Two new chapters have been added to address this goal and in other chapters where the role of the director in the design process is treated, many points have been expanded upon or clarified. The illustrations have also continued to be updated from the sixth edition with this in mind. A number of the exercises have been expanded or changed, and it is hoped that those who are committed to learning to direct will take the time to work through as many of the exercises as possible.
