The Director’s Preparation
Adirector’s preparation is a written analysis of given circumstances, dialogue, dramatic action, characters, idea, and rhythm-mood beats. It must be written because this method is the only way a learning director can be certain that all the points in the improvisation provided by the playwright have been covered and not substituted by the director’s own. Don’t eliminate this step until you can do it well.
