On any given week, across the country and around the world, hundreds—perhaps thousands—of Play Readings are presented to audiences. Forty years ago, there was likely a handful. New work offered to the public in the form of Readings has grown into an international phenomenon and an almost inevitable step on the path to full production.
Many professional theatres include Reading series as part of their new play programs. Play Readings are among the various approaches used by developmental labs.
