In this chapter, I cover the framework for the rest of this book. This chapter corresponds to the information in Annex A1 of the PMBOK Guide, which identifies the processes needed to manage a project and the inputs and outputs associated with each process.

Although the information in the Annex isn’t very exciting, it is important because it establishes the framework for the PMBOK Guide and provides the architecture of the processes used in managing a project, by introducing the five process groups and the ten knowledge areas that the project management processes belong to.
