RSS: The Plumbing Behind the Medium

As the title of this chapter suggests, really simple syndication (RSS)—the technology that allows the syndication and subscription of content on the Internet—is what makes podcasting work. Without RSS, we would still be listening to and watching content in front of our computers and reading it only in our Web browser. Podcasting without RSS is nothing more than online radio all over again.
