Our minds work in pictures, what Polar Bear Pirates call Power Of Picture or POP. The attitude that someone has towards something is purely the picture in their mind that they have taken of it.

As I said earlier, motivation is all about painting pictures and the key to motivating people to achieve their goals is to help them develop their own pictures and not try and paint yours into their minds. If you have any dealings with teenagers you will know that trying to paint your pictures into their minds is an even bigger waste of time than asking them to tidy their room.

It's exactly the same with some of your staff. It's just that because you're their boss and probably not their Mum or Dad, unlike teenage kids ...
