PEP and PDP Discovery

After discovering the number of different hosts and routers in the network, you need to discover the different machines on which applications capable of running the network are actually operational. These machines, which are the Policy Decision Points (PDPs) and/or the Policy Enforcement Points (PEPs), need to be identified so that the policy management tool can determine how to generate the network policy information for these devices. The policy information needs to be generated only for PEPs or PDPs that are involved in supporting a specific function (for example, shaping of packets) within the network.
