Laski refers to three different aspects of liberty:
1. Private or individual liberty: It means the opportunity to exercise freedom of choice in those areas of
life where the results of an individual’s efforts mainly affect him/her.
2. Political liberty: Political liberty according to Laski ‘means the power to be active in the affairs of the
state’.
3. Economic liberty: Economic liberty means simply that everyone has right to earn his/her livelihood.
Citizens should be free from the constant fear of unemployment and insuff ciency. Economic liberty
also implies democracy in industry.
