The manifestation of discrimination exists at two levels: (i) at ‘superf cial level’ in the form of differences
in gender, ethnicity and nationality and (ii) at ‘deep level’ in the form of differences in knowledge, culture
and values. By increasing amounts of interaction among individuals, the superf cial discrimination does get
reduced, but it is not the same as deep-level discrimination. Both forms of discrimination have resultant
consequences for the organisation as well as the employees. It may be easier for the company to reduce
