30.2 RIGHTS OF CONSUMERS
The basic rights of the consumers were f rst recognised and def ned on 15 March 1962 by John F. Kennedy,
the president of the United States of America, in his special message to the Congress on Consumer Protection.
Four basic rights were incorporated as human rights in the UN Charter. They are:
1. the right to safety,
2. the right to be informed,
3. the right to choose and
4. the right to be heard.
