Adding Color

Selecting the right colors to bring your photo to life and depict the appropriate mood requires creating color harmony and balance in your painting. This step-by-step project uses a reference photo of my father’s stack of books. The books bring nostalgia and a sense of classicism and studiousness, so I had to be careful not to make this piece look too cartoonish through my use of color.
