2.1 Introduction

This chapter introduces the basics behind the dynamic analysis and control dynamics, defines the concepts of open- and closed-loop systems, and presents the general sets of transfer functions for single-terminal input or output converters as well as for multiterminal input or output converters in matrix, linear network, and control-engineering block diagram forms. The basic dynamic representations are given to correspond to the true internal dynamics of the associated converters.
