10.1 Introduction
In this chapter, we will introduce the properties of the photovoltaic (PV) generator from the power electronics point of view, that is, we will concentrate on the topics that are relevant for understanding the phenomena in the power electronic converters interfacing the PV generator to the rest of the power system. More detailed information on the semiconductor-related issues can be found, for example, from Ref. [1]. The maximum power point (MPP) tracking is one of the very essential topics in PV field.
