is chapter deals with the permanent magnet (PM) synchronous motors, supplied by current- controlled
voltage source inverter. ey are formed by a rotor containing PMs, a stator with a distributed multi-
phase winding, typically a three-phase winding. e phase coils of such a winding are fed by sinewave
currents synchronous with the corresponding ux linkages due to the PM ux.
ere are two key advantages in using the PMs to create the main magnetic ux of the machine. First,
the space required by the PMs for the magnetization is small, so that the motor design exhibits several
