have periods of idling where they could be put into low power idle modes. The XEC
technology uses an idle time predictor. It contains prediction software with connections
to the OS and other event-monitoring software. The monitoring and control software
specifi c to the platform ’ s idle mode hardware is located in the XEC framework and in the
OS device drivers for the hardware ( Figure 7.7 ).
