IEM Policies are short, modifi able software routines that control what to do when an
OS event occurs. An IEM kernel employs policies to determine a response to an event
like increase or decrease the voltage and frequency to the CPU. Some software tasks are
predictable in their behavior and can track past behavior to predict future performance
requirements. IEM policies and their relationship to the IEM software architechture are
illustrated in Figure 7.10 .
