An LCD display system is composed of an LCD panel, a frame buffer memory, an LCD
controller, and a backlight inverter and lamp or light-emitting diode (LED), as shown in
Figure 5.9 . High-resolution, high-color LCDs require large LCD panels, high-wattage
backlight lamps, and large-capacity frame buffer memories, which together lead to high-
power consumption.
