6. Deaerators and Heaters

The deaerator is vital equipment in modern, large thermal power plants. From its name it is implied that the primary function is to remove the air, with other objectionable gas ingress, from the main working fluid used by the system.
Feed cycle heaters are popularly called regenerative feed heaters. The concept of providing feed heaters comes from increasing the thermal efficiency of the Rankine cycle on which steam power plants operate, thereby saving fuel and lowering air pollution from flue gas emissions.
