2. PLC System: Introduction

What is PLC system? A programmable control system is a digital computer deployed for automation and monitoring of electromechanical and/or electrochemical processes. The applications of PLC in power plants includes a burner management system (BMS)/automatic turbine run up system (ATRS) etc. Because of its versatility often people refer to them as the “Cinderella of control.”
