A Few Operational Features of the Unit

1.0. Introduction

Basic measurements and control aspects pertinent to thermal power plants have been covered in the main body of this book. In addition to those, there a few other operational features with which instrumentation and control engineering are either directly or indirectly related. Here a brief discussion on the same is presented. In Chapters VII–IX and XI various controls pertinent to boiler turbine regenerative systems and BOP systems (both closed loop and open loop control systems) have been discussed at length. With this knowledge, a short discussion is presented in this appendix on the following topics:

• Unit protection system

• House load operation

• Bus transfer system (BTS).
