ripple current and therefore get hotter. PCB traces also add to the ESR and
ESL values to the capacitors. Refer to Section 3.14 for a more in-depth discus-

A high frequency capacitor could also be placed in parallel with the larger
capacitors. This is because the aluminum electrolytic and tantalum capacitors
cannot absorb the very high frequency current components being presented to
them. A .01 or .1mF ceramic capacitor is well suited for this purpose.
