Introduction

If in fact this is to be seen as a crash course in library management, I believe that I am uniquely qualified to be addressing you. This is not because I see myself as some super or ideal manager. I have many faults and continue to learn from my mistakes all the time (although hopefully those mistakes are a little less frequent than in the past). Rather, I tend to think I am at least a bit unusual and have something special I would like to share because of how I ended up here. Please bear with me as my story has relevance to our task at hand, the exploration of library management.
