NPSH-r is dependant on the service liquid but it is known that cavitation resulting from
cold water is most damaging as compared with most commonly pumped liquids
(hydrocarbons, hot water) and so NPSH-r results obtained with cold water can be safely
applied to other service liquids as well.
3.10 Curve corrections
The pump curves are generated while testing the pump using cold water as the liquid. The
curve is fixed for a particular speed, impeller diameter, and water.
