As we have seen in Chapter 3, a centrifugal pump can deliver a wide range of flows and
heads of liquid column. The operating point on the curve; the internal pressures generated
in the pump result in radial and axial forces on the rotor of the pump.
In this chapter, we shall discuss these forces in qualitative and quantitative terms and
their impact on the design of the pumps.
