For Casing castings and welds falling under Category A, only visual inspection is
carried out. For Category B components, it is either the dye-penetrant checks or magnetic
particle tests that are carried out.
However, for Category C, it is DP or MPI and followed by UT or RT. Geometric and
other considerations may make one or the other test unfeasible to conduct, however, these
exceptions have to be agreed upon by both the inspector and the pump vendor.
These tests are carried out after a final heat treatment or final machining as may be
the case.
